FAQs for Network Marketers

podcast Mar 28, 2022

Let’s answer some questions submitted by you guys.If you're a network marketer, chances are you have wanted to know the answers to some of these questions. So buckle up. And let's jump right in.

Can you give more ideas on how to ask for social proof when your challengers or customers are not as responsive or active in participating?

So there are no positive changes. Now the biggest thing here is the wins of your customers and your clients are not always going to be physical, financial, or all of the big things that we think we can only equate to wins. A lot of wins are going to be smaller scale. But those are some of the most powerful. Someone believing in themselves when they never did before, someone taking action. So I don't want you to dismiss wins of any kind, because the smaller pieces of social proof actually carry a lot more weight. Because it's actually realistic. Sharing only the wins of the person that lost all this weight or made all this money when they're an anomaly doesn't make the person reading it actually believe that it's possible for them. And that's the point of social proof.

What if you asked something along the lines of “what has been your favorite part about working with me,” “what has been your biggest win since we started working together.” So you're asking for them to share what their biggest winners were not comparing their wins to anyone else's. And don't count someone out just because they aren't actively sharing, they might be experiencing a lot of positive changes that you don't know anything about because you haven't taken the time to ask them.

What are some creative ideas to do market research?

So my biggest thing here is, how do we gamify it? How do we make it fun? If we make it fun and easy to participate in, people are also going to be a lot more likely to give you feedback. On the flip side, if you want to ask more in-depth questions, touching base with people on a one on one basis and letting them know how much you value their opinion and their feedback is also going to be a great way to actually get people to be fourth coming with you.

Any tips on how to get over mental roadblocks?

“I have realized that all the women that are surrounding me seem professional, they know what they want. And they've been doing this for a long time. I realize I'm seeing myself as someone who's not as experienced, and I'm not sure how to move past this roadblock.”

And so the biggest thing to remember is when you compare yourself to someone else's highlight reel, you will always feel like you aren't measuring up. People are coming on social and they're only sharing the things that they want to share, the things that they deem as positive or what their audience will deem as positive. And so the people that seem professional and seem to have it all together, I can promise you, a lot of people are struggling and they're just not being forthcoming about it. They're making like I even know this with proof firsthand. There are people that are really struggling, but then going on stories and talking about how amazing life and businesses are.

I think it's very powerful and intentional when we're actually forthcoming about the things that we're struggling with because it actually doesn't make you weak or make the business opportunities seem weak. It makes it realistic, and when you hide things, and when you hide the struggles and you keep them from prospects, that's what is going to continue to damage the network marketing industry. No one has it all together. Nobody has it all figured out. And anyone that pretends like they do is probably not someone that you should look to for guidance and advice because it's just not real.

What is the difference between a CTA and a CTE?

So a call to action, CTA, call to engagement CTE. I like to look at it this way, a call to action is to go and do something, generally, it's leaving the platform to go check out a link in the bio or to leave the feed and go to the DMS. You want them to go and do something, a call to engagement is to engage and connect and be social and vocal. So a call to engagement is generally asking someone to participate in a dialogue with you generally, in the comments of a post.

How often should I do many trainings?

So is this also really is going to depend a lot on your trust factor where your authority comes from. There are a lot of network marketers where trust is built between them and their potential customers based on their experience, their knowledge, the research that you do. Some people really trust you because they know you know what you're talking about, or you know where to get an answer. Individuals that have that authority factor, doing many trainings consistently, is going to really help give you a boost with kind of like getting a prospect to go on that know-like-trust journey with you.

But, you really have to know what your trust factor is. And knowing what your trust factor is, is insanely valuable. This is part of what we do when we sort you into your mode in The Modes Project. So many trainings, if you are just starting out, I would say at least one a week. If you know that your trust factor comes from what you teach and your knowledge, you're going to move up to three times a week. And you can always do more. But I would certainly aim to go for three.

How do I know if I am with the right network marketing company?

This is also another big question that is likely going to have some different loaded answers. But the most important thing you really have to remember here is do you enjoy the products? Do you know that the products work?

Are you going to continue to use the products? Do you believe in the culture of the company? Do you feel that the company is moving in a direction that you're aligned with? Answering all of those questions will definitely have you determine if you're partnered with the right company.

The biggest thing that we want to avoid is shiny object syndrome. There will always be companies that pop up that want to promise you the moon in the stars, but I can assure you most if not all problems you experience within one network marketing company will be experienced and another unless you address the root cause of problems, which is generally centered with you. And you not building your business in your way to fit your priorities.

If you align with the company, if you love the products, if you love where the company is going, then that is your sign that looking for a shiny object is not going to solve your problems in your business. It's just going to prolong how long you're suffering in your business. And you have a choice in whether or not you want to do something about it. So that's how you know, right? Not just because so and so looks like she's making so much money over in another company. Because there's actually a lot of shady business sometimes when new companies pop up and want to poach from other companies, they promise bonuses and all of these things. It's it's really shady business, we could totally cover that in another episode if you want. But trust me, companies are a lot more alike than they are different. So choose the company whose values, trajectory, and everything else that you align with. Because what matters to you might be different than what matters to me.

How can I identify the type of coach I want to be?

I want to help people get started. I want to help them get results. I don't want to necessarily reinvent the wheel. But how I see a lot of top coaches do it is not how I want to do it. I want to build a business in a way that I am happy with and is stretching me past my comfort zone. I just don't know how to do it. So the funniest thing here is you actually do know how to do it. If you pay attention to a question X asked like that, you essentially are answering it yourself. I want to figure out what type of leader I want to be, I already know I don't want to do it this way. I want to do it in a way that provides these results, you essentially just answered your own question.

What you're asking isn't actually the question that you're asking. The question that you're asking is, should I trust myself? And the answer to that question is always yes. If you know you don't want to build a certain way, and you know you do want to build this way, the answer is yes. You said you should trust yourself, to follow your intuition and build the business in a way that feels good for you.

I need recommendations for time management. Right now I am working full time, handling family issues, and trying to make something of myself. I know it can be done, but I'm in a rut, and the rut keeps getting deeper. What do I do?

Unfortunately, a lot of the standard network marketing practices do not cater to an individual that has a robust life or career outside of network marketing, that is just the truth. A lot of the advice that's given from a lot of gurus doesn't take into account individuals that have kids, hobbies or interests, or other responsibilities that take up real estate in their brain and real estate in their calendar. So the most important thing that you always have to remember is, yes, you can build a business, no matter how busy your life is, you just need the right tools and the right business model, to build it in a way that feels good for you. Because if you're constantly chasing what is not realistic, and what is not achievable for your lifestyle, you will always fall flat, you will always feel like you're not measuring up.

If you have a full time job, and young kids, and all of this other stuff, you can't build a business like someone that doesn't have kids doesn't have family, you know, doesn't have a job doesn't have other responsibilities, who's working a 14-hour workday, that's not feasible for you. And no, you can't combine that person's work schedule into your three hours, it's just it's not going to happen. And you're always going to be unhappy.

What we can do is take the steps that are actually going to move you forward with the time the resources that you do have available. And that's what needs to change about the network marketing industry. You do not need to change your life around to fit into your business, you will never be happy. What we need to do is make sure that we're creating a business that fits into your life. It needs to fit into your life. Because until it does, you will not be happy, and you will not be able to meet meet your measures of success. There are business models where that can happen. But you actually have to figure out what the model is, thankfully, I can help you out with that.

It is possible for you, you have to stop chasing and stop listening to the people that are telling you to change your life for your business. Because it's not realistic managing time because it becomes a lot more manageable that way.

How I can convert sales talk without sounding salesy?

We always need to remember that sales are essentially giving someone something that they want. We're giving a solution to someone who needs it. The reason often that in the network marketing industry, we feel that sales are icky, is because we're oftentimes selling people things that we don't know that they want and we don't know that they need. And because we're humans that care about people that feel off, or for selling from a place of looking out for our own self-interest rather than prioritizing the person on the other end. That's when it feels icky. That's part number one.

The second part is sales feels icky. When you're putting your ego ahead of the other person, meaning you don't want to get uncomfortable even if it means helping someone else out. So two parts here, part number one, selling people something that they don't want or don't need. That is a key. But that's not the sale. The sale that's a key, it's what you are trying to sell. That's a key. Can you see that? It's not the act of selling, it's what you're selling that makes it a key.

So if you already know that you're not doing that, the second piece is it gets, it's uncomfortable to potentially face rejection when you're offering a solution to someone because they always have the option of whether to say yes, or whether to say no. And that makes us uncomfortable. Because we don't want to face rejection. That is actually selfish. So when we don't sell, because we're afraid of us getting rejected, we tell ourselves, oh, it's because sales is achy as a way to protect ourselves. No ego, you're wrong. Sales aren't achy, right, you just have to get over the fact that you may be rejected. But it's not a rejection of you as the person. It's a rejection of a solution that you're offering. That absolutely means nothing about you. Once we combat those two things, we are entering the right headspace to see that sales is an icky sales is how we help someone get what they want. And we're actually being of service to them. I hope that that was helpful.

I would love to know what activities do you recommend that we do every single day? I know that there are so many trackers and things that we're told to do from our uplines. But what ones should we do daily? And which ones should we repeat the most?

You're either going to love or you're going to hate this answer. The activities that you should do the most depend on your business model. It depends on your lifestyle and your goals. Because remember what I just mentioned, someone that has 14 hours a day to work on their business versus someone that has two hours, their daily activities and the volume of those activities are likely going to be very different. But this is where we get to get intentional when you have less time available. We need to be intentional with the right activities.

Those also tie into your goals, goals, and lifestyle. If your goal is to make $200 This week, that's going to be very different than the person that wants to just recruit 10 people. It's a different goal, different lifestyle, therefore different actions. And again, this is where a lot of network marketers are being fed false information. Because if you are looking at the person who does this full time has no kids, no responsibility, no nothing else on their plate. And if you look at their activities, and if you try to fit them into your two-hour day, you're going to be overwhelmed. You're going to look like a cluster. I don't want this to be an edited episode, it's going to be a cluster. You know what, because it is a cluster, you know what it'll feel that way. So instead of looking at someone over here, you need to know what activities make the most sense based on the resources, the time you have available, and your goals.

Because here's what happens, you end up following that top distributor and doing what they're doing. Well, they're chasing after their goal. And if you do that activity, but your goal is different, what's going to end up happening is you're going to be like why isn't it working for me? Why am I not successful? It's because it doesn't fit into your life, and you're chasing someone else's goal. And that will never ever make you happy. But most people are not stopping and giving themselves enough pause to ask themselves. What do I actually want from this network marketing business? Because once we know, we get to look at okay, am I changing the activities? Or am I changing the goal. And if you want to know what activities fit your goals and your lifestyle, this is one of the first things that you get when you get assigned to your mode once you go through The Modes Project process. But it gets to be more strategic than that. And it should be because yes, there are foundational things like show up and serve your people.

Work on creating your schedule work on creating these things. You know, do your personal development, drink your shake, wash your hair with the shampoo, use the products so that you know that they work. Those are all givens. Like, yes, we know that. But what are the things that move the needle forward? That's what we need to know your mode for. Because if I don't know your personality, if I don't know your goals, and I don't know your lifestyle, and I don't know what you actually want out of your business, I can't recommend the right activities. So that's exactly why it's important that you're listening to this episode today. And why it's important that you go to The Modes Project because March is almost over and at the end of March, the annual founders pricing goes away. Right now you get an entire year of the modes project with tailored support. taylored accountability, content challenge is everything that you need to build your network marketing business and your way for $400 for the year, and you get all the goods.

Once you're in, you're in, and you get that price for the whole year. If you wait till April, it's gonna be more, which you're more than welcome to do. But I don't recommend doing that I recommend getting in while you can get founder's pricing because once we know the business model that fits your personality, your goals and your lifestyle, you're going to notice that a lot of these really common questions that you're asking, actually get answered for you automatically. Because once we know, and we can plug you in with the right tools, it's going to make a world of difference and how you build a business your way, while still having time to spend time with your family. Enjoy the activities you love, get at least seven hours of sleep, right the whole the whole deal.

I appreciate you very much. I will see you next week.

Have a great day everyone.
