I started an Agency 'Ybanez Media'

podcast Dec 08, 2020

I finally went public with the fact that I am opening a social media management and marketing agency. I always wanted the freedom to work from home and travel anytime anywhere. But there's also something that's just so awesome about having a team that you nurture, collaborate with, create, and help grow.

I know 2020 is a year where we're spending so much time sitting and waiting and hoping, which is awesome. We need to be home and really care about what's going on.

But, I am the type of person that when I want to do something, I'm gonna go and do it. I act right away. I don't sit in like mold over for ages. When I make the decision, it's done.

Being the CEO and hiring my team

Hiring people is something that I've done in managerial roles in my early 20s when I was in the restaurant industry, managing it. So, hiring people, and leading a team is something that I'm used to, but I didn't realize how different it would be by being the manager versus the CEO of my own business. When it’s your money on the line, it puts this new sense of responsibility and pressure.

When it came to the hiring process for Ybanez Media, I was so scared most of the time of picking the wrong person or not be able to choose who to go with after the interview process because this is someone, especially when you're starting a company, that you hope will want to be with you long term. Thankfully, I had my amazing executive assistant, Nicole, who helped me with the interview process, and really kept me on task and focused on what really mattered to the mission of the agency.

I wanted to bring in people who already had experience in advertising, marketing, social media, and were experts in their field so that they would easily pick up on my systems, and get the full picture without needing a ton of hands-on training. But they would also be able to bring their own creativity and their own skills to the table. I ended up a couple of weeks after we started the hiring process, hiring two amazing Junior account managers who have been really helping us get situated.

The process of getting the office for the Agency.

We had seen a couple of places. We're meeting with landlords. We're meeting with real estate agents. Nicole and I were touring these places. And a lot of these managers have given us the walk around.

There was one place we loved but it took them forever to send us a proposal. We checked with them multiple times and we just kept on waiting until they finally sent the proposal and it was ridiculous. So, we didn’t decide to go to that place.

While we were waiting for their proposal we found another place and love it. But, the landlords were skeptical about our business. They didn’t believe that my business was sustainable and things like that. I was ready to send deposits and sign everything but he kept putting excuses for me to not sign it. So, Nicole went and saw this other place where it was beautiful. And it was ready for us. I was stuck between those two places. But, I decided to go forward with the third option because I knew that the second option wouldn’t be the best landlord for us.

It was the best decision. It was amazing. And the landlords are some of the best people I've ever worked with in my business. They're just amazing, amazing people.

I’m so glad I chose option three. But it got me thinking about that landlord that didn’t believe in my business. Women just have to fight so much harder to get respect for their businesses and they think it's a joke. They think that we won't be able to use the space because we won't have a team or a long and steady business.

But we have a business. We have a team. And we are able to do so much more.

Ybanez Media is a social media engagement, management, and marketing agency. Our mission is to help multi passionate driven entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, who are realizing that they want to outsource help with their social media, but they don't want to work with a company that uses bots, and really sleazy techniques.

Ybanez Media is for people who want to partner with a company that uses proven strategies, (the same strategies that I teach you) into practice. And our mission is to be an extension of you and your brand and represent you so that we can put your brand in front of your dream clients.

We're going to get your brand in front of them, increase your engagement, increase your story views, and so much more.

There's so much that we're going to be able to do for you using real people, building real relationships, and not using bots or any service automation. It's all real humans in real-time.

My team is a group of professional marketers, so you're not getting newbies to the game. My team has been doing this like myself for many, many years. You're working with a trusted team with trusted systems. And that's just the beginning. We're also doing copy editing, copywriting, content creation, and so much to be able to help you out with professional social media content for your brand.
